The beautiful chamber concert hall of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice hosted Monday October 20th 2008 a concert of a young French pianist, Florence Cioccolani, winner of the 8th International Competition of Orléans in 2008.

In the intense programme without break she proposed firstly Schumann’s Davidsbündler, which allowed her to show her musical completeness; she is specialist of the modern repertoire, having got the prize of a Competition with exclusive 20th century and modern programmes, but she reveals interpretative originality in romantic and classical works too (like first time of Beethoven’s Moonlight, played as bis). Schumann’s compositional modernity assures a perfect link to the 20th century pieces, Florence Cioccolani’s dynamic construction and formal sense are wonderful in the Preludes of Debussy, La Cathédrale engloutie and Feux d’artifice, and her mastery in managing the complex aleatory sequences of the Etudes d’après Pirsanèse by Boucourechliev is astonishing, as well as her taste in recreating an everchanging musical structure. Beautiful surprise these works by a French-Bulgarian composer whose piano writing is very effective.

For this really deserving artist and this not easy programme public’s interest and appreciation were very great
